...Tivoli expect competitive west Kingston derby with Boys’ Town
Boys’ Town and Tivoli Gardens will clash in a west Kingston derby tomorrow in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at the Barbican Complex, starting at 3 p.m.
Despite Tivoli Gardens being in fourth position on 15 points, and Boys’ Town sitting in second to last on six points, whenever the neighbouring rivals clash, exciting.
Coach of Boys’ Town Andrew Price said that it is a game that his team needs to win, playing at home.
“It is a west Kingston derby game, so you don’t have to motivate the players much. It is for bragging rights. A lot of the players from both teams know each other. We are very familiar with each other, so I expect a very exciting match,” Price told STAR Sports yesterday. it is always close and

“Despite where the teams are in the standings, it should be a match worth going miles to see,” he added. Price also spoke highly of Tivoli’s head coach, Omar Edwards, who worked with him as his assistant at Boys’ Town for many years. “Omar is a very shrewd coach. He is able to maximise the best out of his players and is doing a good job there (at Tivoli). That is why they are in the top six, and we have to respect him and his team. We are prepared for the game, and it is going to be a good one,” Price predicted.
“Yes, we are desperate for a win as it would be a good tonic, although it is still a long season ahead,” he shared.
Price will rely on veteran players such as Wayne Ellis, Rafiek Thomas, Daemion Benjamin, Garfield Gillespie, and others to lead the way.
Edwards is also wary that it is a derby game, so he is expecting a good and exciting battle.
“It will not be an easy task playing against Boys’ Town despite their position. It will be a derby game, so to speak. Both teams know each other well, so that will be motivation for the game.
“We will not take Boys’ Town for granted. We know that they possess a few quality players, so we will take them very seriously and continue to improve our offensive game going forward,” he shared.
Tivoli will look to new striker Colorado Murray, who has scored three goals in the last two games, alongside Howard Morris, captain Romaine Brakenridge, Tevin Shaw, and super sub Junior McGregor to
continue the good form.
