STETHS with all to pla

- KAVARLY ARNOLD STAR Writer

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) head coach Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn, who believed Tuesday’s ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup 5-2 semi-final defeat to Rusea’s High was just what he described as a stumble, said that he will just have to focus on the Super Cup hurdle this evening against Kingston College (KC). He said that all focus will now turn to this competition as it is the only silverware still on offer for his STETHS unit.

“Yes, it will, because we don’t have a title for the 2017 season and this is the only title we can get, so we will have to give it our all. We try as best as possible to keep the guys focused for this game because our philosophy is to win any finals we make it to,” said Wedderburn.

Wedderburn was asked if there are any concerns going into today’s final against a strong KC team and what strategy he plans to employ to counter their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. He said that he knows the strength of his team and what they can do if they show up and play.

“It would be foolish to attack your opponents and don’t know their weakness. It’s a game we have to fight hard to win, so we are prepared for this game and just have to play smart and concentrate,” he shared.

When asked about his take on Ludlow Bernard’s statement two weeks ago that ‘the rural area teams are still playing second fiddle to the urban teams,’ Coach Wedderburn told STAR Sports that if he made such remarks, it’s none of his business.

“My business is for my players to go out there and carry out the instructions that we want them to,” said Wedderburn.

Wedderburn said conceding five goals in the semi-finals of the daCosta Cup on Tuesday is not much of a concern for him as they will be playing a different team.

“It’s going to be a different game. We had a terrible game on Tuesday that gave everyone in St Elizabeth a headache. We just have to come through all the mistakes and get it right for this game,” said Wedderburn, who believes the team feeds off his character and is confident going into the game.
