Bernard: No pressure whatsoever!
Ludlow Bernard, coach of preseason favourites Kingston College (KC), said that he is not feeling any pressure ahead of today’s ISSA/FLOW Super Cup final against St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) at Sabina Park.
KC, who were tipped to win their first Manning Cup title since 1986, has endured a miserable campaign this season, after they were beaten 21 by St Andrew Technical High School in Wednesday’s semi final at the National Stadium.
The Purples were also dethroned of the Walker Cup Knockout title, losing 2-1 to rivals Jamaica College in the final earlier this month.
However, KC turned the tables on JC in the semi-final of the Super Cup by defeating them 21 a week ago.
Bernard said while he is confident that they will come out on top today, he is not feeling any pressure ahead of today’s encounter with STETHS.
“I respond by doing my work with full commitment,” said Bernard. “I knew from day one the situation that I have chosen to partake in. I make excuses and the rewards for my work will show at the end,” he said.
“The team is in redemption mode and is looking forward to Saturday’s encounter,” said Bernard. They know that they are more deserving and will want to win a trophy for the school.”
KC will be relying heavily on the likes of striker Rashawn Mackison, who has scored 20 goals in the Manning Cup. He is also the joint leading scorer in the Super Cup with three goals, along with Calabar’s Colin Anderson with three goals each.
Mackison is expected to receive support from Ronaldo Robinson, Trevon Reid, Javain Brown, Fabian Grant to lead their charge to victory.
