Bruck out since I left home

-

Dear Pastor, I am having a problem. My parents think that I am a Christian, but I am not. It is hard for me. I left for Mexico in January.

While there, I realised that they are forcing me to do things that I don’t want to do.

Since I have been there, I have lost my virginity and I have slept with more than eight men.

I have also slept with my best friend’s boyfriend, and I got pregnant for him. He told me to abort it, so I did.

Now I am sick, and my mother is supposed to visit me. I don’t know what to do because the hospital’s report is here, so I had to tell her that I am sick.

I have done some things I never knew I had in me. I stole from my roommate and I smoked marijuana. I feel so unclean and used.

I am depressed and I feel suicidal. I tried cutting my wrist this morning and my roommate saw me. Please help me. T. C. Dear T. C., I am really saddened by your letter. Sometimes, children grow up in Christian homes and do the things that their parents expect them to do.

They take part in family devotions, attend Sunday school and church, and get baptised, but never really experience the ‘new birth’.

Whenever these children leave home to attend college and mingle with other people in their age group, they ‘bruk weh’ and do the most ungodly things.

They surprise themselves, and when their parents become aware of what is happening, they find it very difficult to believe that their angels have let them down.

You have made terrible mistakes, and you are being haunted by them. But I want to encourage you to forgive yourself, pick up the pieces, and move on.

The mistakes cannot be undone. You also have to choose your friends wisely and drop those who would hinder you from making progress.

Cut off those who would encourage you to drink and smoke marijuana.

These two things will ruin your life and hinder you from doing well in school. Don’t go with those who would encourage you to party every weekend. Focus on your schoolwork.

Ask God to help you. Pray, read your Bible, and go to church. If you feel burdened, seek spiritual help from the Christians you trust on campus or from a pastor.
