Ricky Nevado gets Morgan Heritage boost

-

RECORDING ARTISTE Ricky Nevado recently opened for Grammy Award-winning reggae group Morgan Heritage at a show in Hartford, Connecticut. According to the 21-year-old artiste, he is grateful for the opportunity and is now looking to capitalise on the exposure received.

“I might be considered young, however, I have a mature respect for music. My inspirations range from Freddie McGregor to younger artistes like Romain Virgo and Chronixx,” he said.

You must study your past before you can decide what you will do with the future, so I make sure I am grounded. Any artiste capable of using the foundation of our music and merging it with new age concepts will have a solid impact musically. So with the Morgan Heritage cosign, I am just going to push harder to get the break.”

RECORD DEAL

The artiste recently inked a record deal with overseas-based record label Skong Star Records. He also launched his first official single Rock Me under the label.

“I was blessed to get a record deal, however, it has a lot to do with marketability. I not only write my own music, I also play the piano. The more versatile you are in your art the more opportunities will come your way. They love to say the music business is 90 per cent business and 10 per cent talent. However, never be fooled that you can have longevity without some level of talent,” he said.

Rock Me is a soulful love song which sees him declaring his love and appreciation for the woman in his life who stood by him during his low moments. A music video for the record was recently directed by Brian Roberts of Honest Illusions.
