Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz made it a second victory in the CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s World Cup Qualifiers (CCWCQ) when they eased past Martinique 3-0 at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-auPrince, Haiti, yesterday.

The win pushed Jamaica on to six points in Zone B after a massive 13-0 win against Guadeloupe on Wednesday, and yesterday’s victory against Martinique. The Reggae Girlz lead the group, ahead of host Haiti, who was scheduled to play Guadeloupe in a late game.

Jamaica scored their three goals in second-half action courtesy of Chinyeln Asher in the 68th minute, Trudi Carter (72nd), and Khadija Shaw (75th). Shaw, who scored six times in the game against Guadeloupe, pushed her tally to seven goals from two games.

DECISIVE MATCH

It was a good result for Jamaica as they will engage Haiti in the decisive match tomorrow at the same venue. The winners of the five CCWCQ groups will advance to the final round of the Caribbean qualifiers to be held from August 25 to September 2.

The top three teams for the final will qualify for the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship from October 4 to 17. Group A of the confederation qualifiers is set to be played in Cary, North Carolina, while Group B will be contested in Edinburgh, Texas.

The final stage will take place in Frisco, Texas, with the top three teams qualifying as the CONCACAF representatives to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

The fourth-place team will engage in an intercontinental play-off for the possibility of qualifying another CONCACAF nation.
