Shaytana eager to make musical debut

-

Mandeville-based singer Shaytana is looking forward to a bright future in music.

The talented young woman recently put her studies on hold to pursue her lifelong dream of having a successful career in music.

“From as early as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a professional singer. I was in my third year at the University of the West Indies studying psychology when I decided that music is what I really want to do right now. When I told my dad, he was very supportive and understanding,” said the artiste.

Shaytana is getting ready to release her debut single, a sultry dancehall song titled Drunk in Love.

The song that was produced by Thee Khemist is slated to be released before the end of July on the Papa Z Records imprint.

“I’m so excited; I still can’t believe that I’m about to drop my first single, this is a great feeling. I can’t wait to see how the public will respond to it,” she said.

Shaytana’s father, James Shaw (Jah Vibes), who is also an artiste and businessman, believes that it won’t be long before she’s a force to be reckoned with on the local music scene.

“My daughter is a very talented singer. I’ve been grooming her for a career in music from an early age, and I believe she’s ready to be in the spotlight now. It’s just a matter of time before she becomes a star,” he said.

Shaytana was born Tanashay Shaw, and grew up in Seaforth, St Thomas. She’s a graduate of St Hugh’s High School.
