Campari, Digicel capture Business House Domino titles

- MARC STAMP STAR Writer

Campari and Digicel captured the J. Wray and Nephew/Kingston and St Andrew Divisions One and Two Business House Domino titles at the National Housing Trust car park last Friday.

Campari held off Kingston Wharves in a close and competitive Division One final to win by four points,103-99. The Division Two final was equalling as exciting as the highly fancied RJRGLEANER Communications Group lost by a point to Digicel in a nail-biting finish.

The mobile network provider amassed 106 points to the media men’s 105.

SECOND STRAIGHT TITLE

After capturing their second straight title, Campari promised to keep the crown for five years.

“From last year, the plan was to win the title five years in a row. We defeated Kingston Wharves last year and repeated this year, so we have three more to go. We knew Wharves are a good team. The game plan was to stay close to them. We have a better second half than Wharves every time we play them,” Richards told STAR Sports.

“I am just overjoyed because last year, Wharves said they lent us the trophy, but we are going to keep it for another three years. We welcome Digicel and Gleaner to Division One,” he concluded.

Wayne Dixon, captain of Digicel, said that he knew it would be a close encounter.

“We are a good second-half team so although RJRGLEANER were leading by 13 points at half-time break, I asked my team for only one point. And they delivered. The problem is they took us light, very light. They did not know that Digicel could beat them,” an elated Dixon said.
