Overseas GK for Mount Pleasant
Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) newcomers Mount Pleasant Football Academy of St Ann are already working on the transfer of a Panamanian goalkeeper and a national defender for the start of the new season in late August.
Joseph Vargas, a 24-year-old goalkeeper of Santa Gema FC in Panama, is awaiting an International Clearance (ITC) in order to join Mount Pleasant, while Reggae Boyz defender Ladale Richie is set to move from former champions Montego Bay United (MBU).
Mount Pleasant FA’s manager David Galloway says his club is working on the transfer for both players, and also at least three others that he did not wish to name at this time.
“We are working on the international clearance for Joseph Vargas, who is a young goalkeeping talent from Panama, and also Richie, who is a national defender coming over from Montego Bay United,” Galloway told STAR Sports yesterday.

“The club started preseason work more than a week ago after qualification from the Premier League play-off earlier this month. All the players are in training plus those who want to come in. The new players are fitting in under coach (Donovan) Duke,” he said.
Looking forward, Galloway said the club’s aim is to be consistent and finish in the top six of the RSPL.
“Our aim is to finish in the top six and take it from there. I know that some clubs want to make it in to the top two, but anywhere in the top six will give us a chance as anything can happen
Mount Pleasant are just two years old but are already creating a big buzz. Since the takeover by Englishman Peter Gould, they have won the Eastern Confederation Super League and gained qualification for the first time to the nation’s top flight.
