SPECIALIST SHOOTS DOWN DEPORTATIO­N RUMOURS

Former Downsound Records artiste Specialist is debunking rumours that he has been deported from the United States.

“I just want to tell the public that is no deportee thing. How can I get dip when I’ve never been a citizen or a permanent resident of America? Yow, a my career mi a focus on, a yard man deh straight from wah day ya. Mi never leave the studio booth, I always keep it going,” Specialist said.

The Phone Card deejay, who got married in January at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club in Jamaica, explained that he mostly visits the US to spend time with his spouse.

“I was overseas for a while, but mi still living in Jamaica, enuh. Mi just visit the States to spend time with my wife, but you know mi have a lot of songs to release. Right now, me and the team deh a yard a medz where to start from, but we taking our gentle time to make the right moves and the right steps with the music,” he said.

Specialist has been working with Denham Town-based 3R40 Records and is now collaborat­ing with New York-based 2 Flashy Records on a number of dancehall projects.

“I am now signed to 2 Flashy Records. I will be releasing a video for 2 Flashy Lifestyle at the end of August,” he said.

The deejay recently released songs like How Yuh Feel for 2 Flashy Records, and Survive and Ghetto Lesson for 3R40 Records.

He added that he is fully focused on jump-starting his career, which has floundered a little since leaving Downsound Records. However, Specialist is not worried.

“The music is bigger than we think, and I don’t know which song will work because the music travel to place where nuff a we as artiste or producer never been to. The world is out there for all of us, so me just a gwaan put in the work,” Specialist said.
