SDB adopts St Mary U-15 cricket
The Seventh-day Baptist (SDB) Organisation, through its St Mary Chapter, has partnered with the St Mary Cricket Association by assisting the parish’s Under-15 cricket team currently taking part in the Kingston Wharves Competition.
The organisation made a donation to Wain Lynch, assistant treasurer of the St Mary Cricket Association, and also manager of the under-15 team, on Sunday, during a match between the St Mary Seventh-day Circuit and the SD United cricket team from Bridgeport, at the Boscobel Oval in St Mary.
The St Mary Circuit’s assistance will go beyond the donation, as they have also pledged to adopt the Under-15 team, and assist in its development as much as possible.
GOOD SIGN
In making the initial donation on Sunday, Kevin Carter, of the SBD, noted that his organisation had been impressed by the performance of the St Mary under-15 cricketers after watching them play earlier in the day, and was pleased to be offering assistance.
“The young cricketers in St Mary are very talented and seem to enjoy playing the game, and this is a good sign for the future of cricket in St Mary,” Carter said.
He wished the youngsters success in their future endeavours and promised to keep a close watch on their development.
In thanking the SDB, new St Mary Cricket Association President Ian Spencer lauded the organisation for taking an interest in the development of the young cricketers, whom he noted were the future stars of cricket in the parish.
“We have tremendous potential here and with the help of groups such as the SDB, we are certain that we can chart a proper development programme to nurture the talent in the parish,” Spencer added.
