-

Lucas and Clarendon won their semi-final matches in the Kingston Wharves U15 Cricket Competition on Tuesday.

The matches were played at Chedwin Park in St Catherine and Sir P Oval in Clarendon, respectively.

Triple century maker Jordan Johnson returned to the island on the day (from his tour of duty in England, playing for the Windies U15 team), and went straight to Chedwin Park, but got there too late to help his team defeat St Catherine CC. Lucas won the match in a lowscoring encounter.

St Catherine won the toss, batted but could only make 89 all out after playing with one short. Two players got into double figures, Akeem Bryan, 22, and Kirain Johnson, 14. The bulk of the wickets went to Nathaniel Waul and Courtney Handal, who took three apiece.

Lucas lost only one wicket in the chase to overtake the score. They defeated St Catherine CC by nine wickets after putting up a score of 90 for one. Stephen Wedderburn, 31 not out, and Michael Clarke, 20, were the top scorers. The lone wicket to fall went to Olando Richards who took 1 for 14 in 1.4 overs.

Clarendon defeated St Mary after batting first and scoring over 300 runs, which St Mary could not overtake.

Lucas and Clarendon will meet in the final next Tuesday at Sabina Park in Kingston. The teams are making their first ever final in the Kingston Wharves U15 Cricket Competition.

A new champion will be crowed as defending champion Manchester did not come out of the preliminary round of the competition.
