The 2018 ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup heats up this afternoon with defending champions Rusea’s High School taking on Frome Technical in their Zone B derby at the Colin Miller Sports Complex. Both teams boast a 100 per cent win record with Rusea’s leading the zone having played one more game to Frome’s three.

Aaron Lawrence, coach of Frome, said he does not see it as a derby game and despite what fans say, they are just going out there to get the three points like every other game they’ve played so far.

“Our players are energised and ready for the challenge. Although it’s the defending champions we are going up against, we are going there to get the victory and perform at the highest level,” said Lawrence.

“As I said before, we take each game as it comes. We don’t take any team lightly, as every team that we play so far has quality. So it’s the same level of concentration, organisation, and performance we are preparing these boys for tomorrow. It’s just another game, we don’t see it as a derby or a top-of-thetable clash, so we will work to our own merit, going out there and doing what it takes to get the three points tomorrow,” he added.

Dwayne Ambusley, assistant coach of Rusea’s, who is expecting a raucous atmosphere at home later today, said they will get the better of their rivals, as they are more experienced at this level.

“A game like this the rivalry goes way back to the 90’s,” he said. “It’s always going to be crazy in terms of spectators. I think it’s going to be an evenly contested game but nevertheless, in the end, we will have too much for them,” said Ambusley.

“Talking to them today, I think they are really up for it. I don’t think it will be a case of us holding our heads and not getting carried away, because most of our guys are used to situations like this. Also, playing at home should give us the advantage,” he added.
