Dancehall artiste Razor B opened the doors to his first restaurant on October 1, and already the entertainer already has big plans for Cassup’s Kitchen, located at 12 Dunrobin Avenue.

Razor B, who is also a trained chef, told THE STAR that it has always been his dream to own a chain of restaurants in Jamaica.

Now that he has officially opened his first, the artiste sees Cassup’s Kitchen setting up shop in all 14 parishes.

“Cooking is something I’ve always loved. I operated a restaurant while I was living in Canada and I have always wanted to own my own chain of restaurants in my home country, and it goes beyond me wanting to be a businessman, it’s also about me creating jobs and contributing to my country on a larger scale,” he said. “I just want to be that entrepreneur that I’ve always dreamt of and I’m focused on making this a reality in Jamaica. I want to build Cassup’s Kitchen into a brand, that’s my main goal.”

OUR GOAL

The deejay says he is overwhelmed at the support he has received from both musical colleagues and regular folk since the opening.

“When we opened, it was a little bit sticky because we had some complaints about the price, but we listened to our customers and made the necessary adjustments and things have improved and continue to improve,” he said. “So far, so good. Our goal is to ensure that the food is impeccable and the summer service and the price is on point. Our fried chicken, curried chicken, the pork and the coleslaw that I make from scratch are some of our best sellers.”

Razor B explained that as an artiste, music will play an integral role in the restaurant.

“The music is associated with the food and the food with the music, so our menu has some dancehall flavour to it in terms of the titles of the dishes. The dishes are named after some of my songs, so we have the ‘Hot Up Jerk Chicken’, the ‘Hanky Panky Curry Chicken’, the ‘Stuck Gyal Stew Pork’ and the ‘Hula Hoop Curry Goat’,” he said.

The official launch for the restaurant is set for October 26, the deejay’s birthday.
