El­derly woman shot dead in east Kingston

The Kingston Eastern police have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into a shoot­ing in­ci­dent on Sun­day on Homestead Road, Kingston, that left an el­derly woman dead.

In­for­ma­tion reach­ing our news team is that res­i­dents heard loud ex­plo­sions and sum­moned the police.

THE STAR un­der­stands that upon ar­rival of the police, 75-year-old Ruth­lyn Pren­der­gast, a re­tiree of Homestead Road, Kingston 2, was found dead.

Reports from the El­let­son Road police are that at about 3:20 a.m., res­i­dents heard ex­plo­sions, and dur­ing a check of the premises, Pren­der­gast was seen ly­ing in her bed with gun­shot wounds.

Fur­ther checks re­vealed that an­other woman was also in­jured.

Both women were taken to hos­pi­tal where Pren­der­gast was pro­nounced dead, while the other woman was ad­mit­ted in sta­ble con­di­tion.
