UWI ready to make run for the final

- ROBERT BAILEY

Peart told that his team has been moving nicely in the preseason and everyone is very focused and looking forward to the start of the season, which begins in September.

“It (the final) is in our reach, but the first thing we are targeting right now is to going a step better than we did last year,” said Peart. “We also want to improve on our league placing at the end of 33 games and so we are targeting that top two position,” he said.

“Things have gone good so far because we are training consistently. However, we have not played any games yet and so we are looking at this month to get in some match practice for our team.”

UWI have been very consistent in the RSPL since they entered the league in 2015 and Peart added that he is expecting a lot more from his players this season.

“The aim is to do better than last season because getting into the play-offs and not making it to the semi-finals was a little disappointing for us,” said Peart.

“For this year, what we are looking at consistency in terms of the results that we get and so that is one of the main things for us going into this season,” he said. He added that the club is currently in negotiations with a number of players who have expressed interest in joining the club.

“Firstly, we are looking at players who are very competitive, players who have the desire to improve and players who have the desire to be part of a winning team,” Peart said.

“We are looking at the goalscoring area and so we are looking at bringing in some strikers and some wide players who can contribute in terms of getting us goals,” he said.
