William Knibb hunt third straight win

ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup action returns today with Group C leaders William Knibb High School aiming for their third straight win, while former champions Herbert Morrison Technical High School look to bounce back from Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to William Knibb.

William Knibb, who have scored four goals in both games so far, are keen on opening a gap between themselves and second place, as well as to add to their +7 goal difference when they host Cedric Titus High School.

“We are in a good run and we want to capitalise on that, so a win will be good to put some daylight between us and the others,” William Knibb head coach, Dwight

Jeremiah, said. “Not just to gain three points from Cedric Titus, but it also would put us six points ahead of them.

“We changed our system to make us a bit more stubborn in defence. In fact, we haven’t conceded from open play. That one goal was from a penalty. Goal difference can be an extra point.”

INJURY PROBLEMS

Herbert Morrison head coach, Leacroft Lettman, said last Saturday’s 4-0 loss to William Knibb at home was difficult to take, but with players returning from injury, they are hopeful of all three points, playing away to Holland.

“In our last game (Saturday), we had injury problems as five of our starters were out,” Lettman said. “However, we are looking forward to them being back into the squad for [today’s] game.

“Our objective is to get that win. We know this group is always a tricky one. The Trelawny clash with William Knibb and Cedric Titus can go either way, and Spot Valley is always thereabouts every year. I guess once we go out tomorrow and do what we are supposed to do, then all three points should be on the cards for us.”
