My family and mother-in-law don’t like me

Dear Pastor,

I hope all is well. I am having a problem and I would like to have your advice, sir. I am a 23-year-old mother but my family doesn’t treat me well at times.

But they love my two-year-old son. Every time my babyfather talks to his mother, I don’t hear from him for a day or two. He is living in the US.

To tell you the truth, I made a mistake by lending out some money he gave to me for emergency purposes, and I can’t get back the money. So, we are having a problem because of that. Please tell me what to do. Anonymous

You say that your family doesn’t treat you well. What are they doing that makes you consider that they are not treating you well? Perhaps you are expecting too much from them.

You should remember that you are an adult. And even if you are living at home, you should be supporting yourself.

Although you have not said it, you believe that this man is listening to the advice of his mother, and that is the reason why whenever he talks to her, he is not pleased by what she says to him about you.

DON’T LET THAT BOTHER YOU

So that is the reason why he doesn’t communicate with you for a couple days. But, you should not allow that to bother you.

You should not have lent out the money he gave to you without his permission. I hope he will forgive you.

A woman should never get between a man and his mother. Men will always have a soft spot in their heart for their mothers.

So, you should learn not to say anything negative about a man’s mother in his presence. Some men behave as if their mothers are still breastfeeding them.

They can’t stand on their own and they are always running back to their mothers for advice. On the other hand, a mother cannot take the place of a good spouse.

So do your very best to show your man that you care for him. And before I go, let me say, don’t forget that while you are living at your parents’ house, you should be respectful to them and don’t expect them to treat you as a baby.
