Molynes suffer second straight defeat
Molynes United went down to their second consecutive defeat in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), losing 2-1 to Humble Lion at the Effortville Community Centre yesterday.
Levaughn Williams netted the game’s winning goal in time added on, scoring from the penalty spot. Andre Clennon put Humble Lion in front on 52 minutes and Ryan Brown equalised for Molynes three minutes later.
The result means Molynes remain second in the standings with 19 points, the same as Waterhouse, who play Cavalier in the Monday night game this evening. However, Humble Lion climbed three places up the table to third on 14 points.
Molynes United won their first six games of the season before dropping a point on match day seven. But after suffering their first loss last weekend, the newcomers stated confidently that they expected to return to winning ways this weekend, as they were without coach Lijayasu Simms for the previous match and noted that he would be back for their Clarendon sojourn. But the joint-league leaders left Effortville without a point, after giving up a late penalty to lose 2-1.
Humble Lion have only lost once in their nine matches this season and they have stretched their unbeaten run to four games, which includes two wins.
Meanwhile, Dunbeholden moved further away from the relegation zone after a 1-0 win over UWI FC. Dunbeholden came into the game in 10th with seven points, while UWI was one place and one point adrift of their opponent. However, Dean Andre Thomas’

Catherine team a vital win and lifted them two places to eighth with 10 points. UWI slipped further down the table to last. They have been overtaken by Vere who played to a 1-1 draw with Arnett Gardens at Wembley to move to seven points and one place up the table
At Wembley, visiting Arnett took the lead through Tamar Edwards on the hour mark but Javiar Brown’s 69th-minute goal earned the host a share of the points. The point pushed Arnett one place up to fourth with 12 points, the same as Harbour View but one more than Cavalier and two more than Mount Pleasant, Dunbeholden and Portmore, all of whom have a game in hand, except Dunbeholden, and who have a chance of passing out Arnett if they win their outstanding match.
Waterhouse will play Cavalier in the Monday night game at Waterhouse at 8 this evening, while Portmore take on Mount Pleasant on Wednesday at the Prison Oval at 3 p.m.
