HIGH HOPES FOR YOUNG SINGER

-

They say big things come in small packages, and that’s exactly the case with upcoming artiste Jhanni. At just eight years old, he is currently promoting his first official single, Protect Me.

The track was produced by his father, producer and recording artiste Rammalow, through his label Mind Power Records Highgate.

“The song is about asking for God’s protection as we face our everyday lives and the things we encounter from evil people. It’s also giving thanks for what God has been doing so far for us,” Rammalow explained.

The accompanying music video, which showcases the young singer and his peers going through their daily lives, has been released on YouTube to great reviews so far.

Hailing from Highgate, St Mary, the grade-three student was introduced to music by his father and has been honing his skills in the art since late February.

“I was very surprised by how on key and on time he was the first time I heard him sing, and it was very easy working with him in the studio on his first song. Maybe he learned from watching so many artistes record, since he is in the studio with me a lot after school and on some weekends. Plus, he lives in a musical home, so I think it comes naturally,” Rammalow said.

The feedback to Jhanni’s song has been overwhelmingly amazing, with people greeting him in public with hugs and expressing how proud they are of him.

He has also been receiving an outpouring of love through social media.

Adopting a musical style that mixes reggae, dancehall and pop, Jhanni expresses himself through positive music that he has a hand in writing, along with help from his stepmother and dad. Not one to accept failure in anything he does, the young singer is always willing to try and learn, with his eyes set on continuously doing music and traveling the world.

The talented artiste has a few performances booked so far, such as Devin Di Dakta’s School’s Out, and Saucy Fyah’s MISSIONS ON FYAH.
