The Kingston Central police are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of 26-year-old Andrew Daley who was killed by unknown assailants in downtown Kingston yesterday afternoon.

As the lawmen processed the scene, a group of irate residents who claimed to be from Denham Town, where Daley lived, said that he was killed because of an ongoing turf war in sections of the community.

NO ANGEL

One of them said that while Daley was not an angel, he was no murderer.

“Andrew was no gunman, him was a tief and a housebreaker, but him was not no murderer. Him never did a tief and mi would know because mi is a ‘puss’ too. Is hungry him (Daley) hungry and him go look for him fada for a ting and a go back and the man dem kill him but a lie dem a tell say him did a rob,” the woman said.

She shouted a string of insults in the direction of the lawmen while insisting that Daley was not participating in any illegal activities because of COVID-19.

“Jah know star, him couldn’t did a tief because everything tighten up from corona come in because, as yuh look, is a police yuh see. A hold Denham Town man dem come hold him on the outskirts. If yuh notice, the next youth him did a walk with nuh get shot,” she said.

The group later converged outside the House of Tranquillity Funeral Home where Daley’s body lays.

After identifying the victim, another woman identified as a family member wept loudly, while refuting claims that he was shot by a woman he had tried to rob.

“Him never did a rob no woman and by the way which woman have gun a walk wid? Him never did a tief nothing this time a just man time pedal and kill him over tings whe him nuh know bout,” she said.
