Romeich extends hand of kindness
Wants to inspire others to do the same
Artiste manager and businessman Romeich Major of Romeich Entertainment has been using Instagram to reach out to followers to assist with essential items as the coronavirus partial lockdown has caused some Jamaicans to be quarantined at home and unable to work.
In an interview with THE STAR, Romeich said that having come from humble beginnings, he knows what it is to go through hard times, and he wants to help make the burden lighter for some persons in these difficult times.
“It wasn’t anything planned. Me and my workers were tuned in to IG and watching everybody go live, and then I was saying to myself, ‘Everybody a go live, but me never really see a lot of people offering to help’,” he said. “I heard a whole heap a people saying dat dem get laid off work, and knowing say me go MegaMart and PriceSmart and stock up fi di next two or three months, me a say it rough if dem people yah weh cant do that. They are going to go hungry inna dem time yah and so I just said that I am going to reach out and ask who need help.”
‘ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM’
Since Friday night, Major has assisted four persons with groceries, cash, and has even contributed to rent for a few followers. The persons were chosen from call-ins to his IG live. He says since he started, persons have also been reaching out to donate stuff to give away.
The latter, he says, warms his heart.
“A nuh just people who need things a contact me. People who have things to give are also getting in touch. To know there are persons out there who also want to help makes me happy,” he said. “Even my artistes dem contribute because our motto is ‘one team, one dream’. Anything weh Romeich a do, the entire team back it. So Shenseea help, Teejay help, Ding help, and the whole a di deejay dem help.”
Romeich says he is not doing this for recognition. “Me wah people see say a man like me coulda just siddung a me yaad, but me a reach out and try help. The main reason I’m doing this is so the people who are comfortable or above comfortable can reach out and give back,” he continued.
