Tuff Road rhythm takes flight

-

The Tuff Road rhythm has received some much-needed adrenalin thanks to the success of the single Genuine by I Waata.

The project was released in September by Kyaataame Production and is the debut rhythm project for Florida-based Virgil Anwar Sadat Young.

“The rhythm was built by my nephew Kingwayne. I heard it and fell in love with it. I remembered the roads that I walked on in Jamaica and I decided to give it that name,” Young recalled.

The project also features songs from artistes including Stinga J, Delly Ranx and Logon Unknown. Young said it wasn’t easy to get all the artistes on the rhythm.

“But it also wasn’t that hard. I already had a personal relationship with most of the artistes through my sound system Goldstar Sound. I used to get dubplates from most of the artistes,” he said. According to Young, since the I Waata track took off, the interest in the project has been positive.

“The feedback has been great. The songs are being featured on a lot of mixtapes. Radio disc jockeys have started playing it and I have been getting calls about it every day,” said Young.

His previous production credits include the gospel albums Come on Friends and We Bless Your Name by Minister Gee Gee.

Among his forthcoming projects is the Bloodlyne rhythm, which is to be released shortly. It features songs by Intence and Munga Honorable among others.

Said Young, “Music was always in my life growing up in the church. From my sister being a singer on the choir to playing sound from a younger age with family and friends. I have a natural love for the music itself.”
