Don’t want to have any more children

-

Dear Pastor,

I have three children for three different men. With the help of my father, I am just being able to pay down on a house. I do not want any more children.

Men are always showing interest in me but I don’t want any more. I am a very unfortunate woman. If I look at a man too long, I get pregnant.

I want to be in a situation where I can have sex whenever I feel like and not worry about getting pregnant. I spoke to my gynaecologist and she told me that she would not advise me to tie off so early because in spite of what I have gone through, I may still meet a man that I love and would like to marry. That man may need a child. But Pastor, I don’t want any more children.

Right now, there is a guy who is fooling around. All I need to say is yes come and spend some time with me and he would be at my house in 10 minutes, but I don’t need any more children.

I don’t want to say to anybody again, ‘it was an accident”.

So I write to you to ask you whether you consider tubal ligation to be wrong from a biblical perspective.

I shall be looking in THE STAR for your answer. Please don’t take too long to respond to my query.

P.T.

Dear P.T.,

I see no reason why anybody should condemn you for having this kind of operation. It is considered, of course, a permanent procedure, and if a woman does not want any more children that is the way to go. You have had three children by three different men and although you have not said it, you must feel embarrassed.

Your doctor’s advice should not be ignored. He or she is concerned about you. On the other hand, you are responsible for yourself. You have to make the final decision. I can only wish you well.

Pastor
