Curvy Diva looking for a husband

- YASMINE PERU STAR Writer

Yanique ‘Curvy Diva’ Barrett is one busy woman. She is juggling her career as a dancehall artiste, and recently returned from the US where she had a number of shows this month, while being totally involved in her new business venture, Dining With Curvy. She is also getting ready to launch her first cookbook and is making plans to start a clothing line and a seasoning line. Add to that, her quest to find a husband.

In fact, she is so serious about the husband thing that she is sporting a hard-to-ignore rock on that finger. “Yuh see the ring?” she quizzed.

“I am putting it into the universe. And it feel so comfortable pon mi finger. It’s for my future husband, I am letting him know,” she told THE STAR.

Yanique knows exactly what she is looking for in the ideal man, even if the appearance part is clichéd.

“I want a good-looking, nice guy,” she said fervently. “I like dark guys who are tall dark and handsome. I am that type of person. I don’t want to have a baby and then the stress is on me to make this child look good. I have a beautiful daughter and her father is not really handsome.

I took the chance once and I am not going to take it again,” she said, stifling a laugh.

Good husband material means that the man must have great communication skills and is supportive.

“Communication is very important. The ability and willingness to comprehend and understand where I am coming from, put yourself in my shoes and I will put myself in yours are key. Support is important. I love to ask questions. I love the pillow talk, and I am always coming up with new ideas, so I need somebody who is smart enough to say ‘okay, that idea is a good one, the other isn’t’. He has to be financially stable.

I don’t want somebody to come and tek and tek and tek.

I’m growing and building, and yes I might be making some moves now, but I don’t want anybody to think I am rich. At this point everything I am making goes back into the business. And of course, loyal. Respect and loyalty are important,” she noted.

The Bunx Pon It singer shared that she has been “enjoying speed dates” in her own restaurant.

“I am one of them who walk around my restaurant and greet people. Me nuh too good and boasy. It’s called ‘Dining with Curvy’ and literally you really dine with me. So when I am here, guys come in. I am talking to that guy and he’s like, ‘What you want to eat?’ and I am like it’s my place and I shouldn’t be eating and he says ‘no yuh have to eat with me.’ So I say okay. Another says ‘Drink with me,’ and I say okay, so I am going on speed dates in my restaurant, hence ah must find a husband,” she declared.
