Negative COVID test or full vax for Dream Weekend
Patrons attending Dream Weekend will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test which is no older than two days, or have proof of full vaccination in order to enter the events.
The highly anticipated annual festival, which features seven parties over five days, kicks off today and runs to August 9. The events will be held between the Kool Runnings Water Park, Wavz and Long Bay Beach.
Kamal Bankay, chairman of Dream Entertainment, said the safety, health and security of the patrons are of utmost importance.
“We are implementing a series of measures from the redemption of bands to access to the events and general movement at and after events,” Bankay said. Tickets will not be sold at the gates.
Like most entertainment events, Dream Weekend was cancelled last year after the Government advised that large festivals would not be permitted during the summer of 2020 because of the spread of COVID-19. The entertainment sector was shut down in March after Jamaica recorded its first few cases of the novel coronavirus. It then reopened under strict guidelines on July 21, but shut down one month later as the Government branded entertainment as fertile ground for the spread of the highly contagious virus.
“Dream Entertainment understands the great responsibility we have to maintain the safety of all patrons, as such everyone must wear a mask unless they’re eating or drinking. We will have a number of COVID marshalls roaming the grounds to ensure full compliance. The set- up of the events also takes into consideration social distancing,” Bankay said.
He said that sanitised shuttle buses, equipped with sanitiser, will be roving the Negril strip to and from events for the patrons’ convenience.
The likes of Dexta Daps, Beenie Man, Laa Lee and Bounty Killer have been confirmed for the events.
