Kind windshield wiper gets help
Help is on the way for kindhearted windshield wiper Andre Moore, who was captured on video helping a man who pretended he needed help to purchase a drink.
Moore assisted him with the full amount, despite not making much money from windshield wiping. Since his story was published on August 4 in THE STAR, Moore said he has received financial assistance from at least three persons and received phone calls from several others. Among those who assisted the 26-year-old father of two is humanitarian and soldier Kaniel Cole who, through the One One Cocoa Foundation, donated cash, clothing items and groceries to the Majesty Gardens resident. He implored Moore to ‘tun his hand and make fashion’.
“I met with him and his spouse and I told him to hold on to the money tight if he does not have anything planned. We are also still trying to see if we can get a job for him as a pump attendant or so on. He seems to have his head on his body, so I told him to just continue what he is doing until better come, as we are working on other stuff for him,” he said.
Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, Moore said that he is extremely grateful for the help he has received so far.
He said he is hoping to start a car wash should he get enough assistance.
“I am thankful for everything that has been happening, but mi nuh just want nuh handouts all the time. Mi would want to open a car wash, whe mi can make enough to take care a mi baby dem. This way, I can also help other people, too. Mi would just want some help to buy the materials to start the car wash,” he said.
The Kingston 11 resident said for now, he will continue to wipe windshields in the Corporate Area until he is able to do otherwise.
“Mi a go gwan do it, because the money whe mi get mi put it down for the baby dem. Mi two youth dem want tablets for school and other things, suh mi nah go waste what mi get. Mi just thank everyone who help mi out,” he said.
