Gospel duo continues to encourage people to ‘PRAYS HIM’

Hot on the heels of their remix to Tarrus Riley and Shenseea’s ‘Lighter’, gospel duo La Twain is still encouraging Jamaicans to ‘pray’.

The husband and wife are gearing up to release their latest single, Prays Him, and say now more than ever, it is important to send up prayers and praise without ceasing.

“Prays Him is a follow-up of sorts to our last song Prayer, hence the twist in the title to say ‘prays him’ instead of ‘praise him’. We have absolutely no regrets about remixing that secular song because the Prayer single has been motivating persons across the world and we want to continue down that path of encouragement. We still have individuals telling us how the song helped them through hard times and for us that’s all that matters,” said Lenford Young, one-half of the duo. “We are adamant to win the lost at any cost and if that includes getting negative responses for putting a gospel spin to a dancehall song, then so let it be. The work must continue.”

MUSICAL MANDATE

Young’s wife, Terry-Ann, said the duo has been given a musical mandate, to spread the Gospel and keep people praying and praising.

“It is important to pray/ praise because it’s the way men communicate with God. The Bible says ‘pray without ceasing’ and we already know that when praises go up, blessings come down. In these trying times, only the Grace of God through prayer can change things,” she said. “This song will have everyone moving to the beat while the words enforce the importance of prayer/praise and reminds us of the promises of God.”

As a couple pursuing both professional and personal goals, the Youngs say they consider it a blessing to be able to work with each other. They expressed admiration for former husband and wife duo Robert and Jenieve Bailey.

“Like us, they chose to do music together and gave us some awesome songs over the years and that’s how we will continue to remember them; as a beautiful couple who led by example,” Lenford said. Terry-Ann said the couple will continue to pray over their own marriage, as they are in it for the long haul.

“Working with my husband is a blessing. It has helped us to build a stronger bond in our spiritual walk and also in our marriage. He is strong where I am weak and vice versa. I wouldn’t have it any other way,”

she said.
