Bottle with message cross the Atlantic
Three boys visiting an Irish beach found a message in a bottle that had crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Canada.
Brothers Oisin O’Doherty and Eoghan O’Doherty and their cousin Odhran O’Sullivan were on a beach in County Kerry when they spotted the bottle among some rocks.
The trio were able to retrieve and open the bottle and discovered that it contained a message from Canadian fisherman Craig Drover.
The message from Drover read: “This bottle was tossed over the side of the Arctic Eagle on the grand banks of Newfoundland, Canada, while fishing for snow crabs.”
The note also featured an email address that was used by the boys to make contact with the fisherman.
In a reply to the trio, Drover wrote: “Glad to hear of the boys finding my message in a bottle. I’d say they were a little excited, to say the least. A nice way to end a vacation. It is amazing how far those bottles travel.”
