Cops probe death of retired soldier
Detectives attached to the Freeport and Barnett Street police stations in St James are probing the death of a retired member of the Jamaica Defence Force.
The deceased has been identified as Henry McFayden, 78. He was discovered laying on the ground outside a retirement home on Monday morning. Reports are that McFayden, who was a resident at the Faith Allied Institute, located in Brandon Hill, Montego Bay, was last seen late Sunday.
It is further reported that about 6 a.m., a nurse at the home was making routine checks on the patients when, upon reaching McFayden’s room, which was located on the upper floor of the building, she discovered that he was not inside.
She also discovered that several window panes had been removed. The nurse raised an alarm and after several checks were made, McFayden was discovered laying unresponsive on the ground beneath the first floor window. He was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Our news team tried to get a comment from the administrators at the home, but were told that incidents such as these cannot be discussed with the media.
