The appreciative smiles and looks of relief on the faces of the persons who had been invited to collect care packages was all the thanks that singjay Razor B needed to make his day last Wednesday.

The Canada-based entertainer and a team of volunteers packaged and handed out bags of groceries to 30 persons who had reached out to him via direct messages on social media.

“It hurt me to the core that people are hungry and asking for food. Food and water are the basic necessities and some of these stories were so heartbreaking. I had to do whatever I could to help,” the entertainer and chef told

Razor B, who is known in his Waterford community in St Catherine for putting on some of the biggest Christmas and back- to- school treats, didn’t need to make a shopping list. bought tin food, toiletries, snacks, chicken from a local farmer and packed the bags. We had sent out text messages to the 30 persons telling them where to come and collect the bags and they turned up. And it wasn’t all women either,” he said.

Razor B shared some of the messages which he had received, but blotted out the names of the people.

“I’m asking you for a little help to buy some food, please” one of the messages read. When he asked where she lived and told her to send a list of the things she needed, her response was “Honestly, I didn’t expect for u to ans bt am nt the type to stress or pressure others. Anything u can offer, food etc I would greatly appreciate it. Rice flour, Lasco, cornflakes, snacks, mackerel, corn beef, cup soup, meat stuff, toothpaste, soap, oil ketchup.”

Other requests simply said “Good night, could you help me out with some groceries please an thank you.”
