Aformer member of the One Don gang yesterday testified that reputed leader Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan got incensed after his men shot the wrong person when they failed to execute three men who he had allegedly ordered them to kill.

The witness told the court that when the alleged shooter, ‘Mawga Man’ (defendant Ted Prince) had returned and informed Bryan about the mishap, some of the men laughed.

“But Blackman was not laughing, he was mad,” the witness testified in the Home Circuit Court via video link. “He wasn’t laughing, he was screwing.”

The shooting reportedly took place at the fishing village in Spanish Town, in 2017, across from the police academy. The witness, who admitted to seeing the shooting, told the court that he had visited Bryan before the incident and saw him and five other alleged gang members planning the attack.

The witness said Bryan told him and Squeeze Eye (defendant Jahzeel Blake) to go and scout the area for the police, which they did. Following that he said Blake then called Bryan and told him that the targets were present. The witness said he and Blake then drove off and parked some distance away from the fishing village to wait for the others. But shortly after, when he was driving past the fishing village, he saw Prince firing a gun.

The witness also testified that he had called off the murder of a man in Spanish Town, as he felt the man was innocent. The witness testified that he aborted the mission after he carried the shooters to the location and saw the intended victim loading a bus. “He was loading a bus, gunman nuh load bus,” he said.

The victim told the court that he told the men about his plan to abort after advising Bryan that they were going to kill an innocent man and “him a go a him yard.”

When asked how Bryan reacted, the witness said he did not object. Furthermore, he told the court that Bryan trusted him and that they had a good relationship.

“I am his driver, he trusted me to buy his food and to do everything for him,” he said.
