Think this man could be a scammer

-

Dear Pastor,

I have a problem. I was on a dating site and I met this man. He is 53 years old and I am 42. We started to text each other and in the middle of texting, he asked me if I could send him a Steam card so that he could get access to the Internet and he could be able to talk to me. I told him that I didn’t know what he was talking about, so he showed me. He said that when his wife was alive, she made sure that he got it. He has one daughter, who lives with her nanny, but he is on a base camp right now. He said that for him to leave the camp, he would have to pay US$20,000 or US$10,000. He wanted to know if I could get that money for him from where I am living in Jamaica. I am living in Clarendon. I am just wondering if he is a scammer or he is just seeking someone to use.

Dear Unknown,

I suggest that you stop communicating with this man. You must be very careful how you get involved with men you meet on the Internet. Many of these people are scammers, and they will try to get as much out of you.

A 53-year-old man should be working hard, and should not be asking you to send him money. You probably have told him many things about yourself. Don’t give him more information about yourself or your relatives and friends, and don’t send him any money.
