Men jailed for stealing gaming boxes

-

Atracking device installed in four gaming boxes was the crucial element that assisted investigators in recovering Russian Roulette boxes that were reported stolen from a bar in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on April 29.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the find. Shamar Williams and Atasha Brown were placed before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.

Following the theft of the boxes, the complainant informed the police that they were equipped with trackers. The police employed the use of a GPS locator, which led them to a dwelling on Wellington Street in Kingston where the boxes were found.

It was further alleged that seven other Russian Roulette boxes were found at the premises.

Investigators shared with the court that video footage was obtained via the JamaicaEye surveillance network. It reportedly shows the vehicle used in the transportation of the stolen boxes leaving Denham Town and heading towards Spanish Town, and then returning to Kingston.

Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque remanded the accused men in custody until May 24. She expressed the desire for the matter to be quickly disposed of.

“Unlawful possession of property matters should not stretch, these are matters that should be tried, the latest, ideally in 48 hours. The officer finds somebody in possession of items that they cannot account for, the legislation says you go to the magistrate right after,” the judge said.
