Autopsy pending after deaths of US tourists

-  CMC :

The Royal Bahamas police say an autopsy will be conducted on the bodies of three visitors who died at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on Great Exuma island last Friday.

The police say that this is being done to determine the cause of death. The report noted that on Friday, they were called to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. (local time). The first body, that of a man, was found in a villa, and then the body of the other man and woman, who were identified as a couple, in a second villa. They said the bodies showed no signs of trauma.

However, it was reported that the couple had complained of feeling ill the previous evening and had sought treatment at a medical facility and returned to their villa. The identities of the deceased have not been officially confirmed, but the case has been presented to the coroner. In a statement, Sandals confirmed the deaths.

Meanwhile, environment health scientists, physicians, and others who are investigating the incident, sought to assure citizens that the deaths of the visitors were an isolated incident.
