Up-and-coming acts shine again on Ethos platform
Creative director David Alexander is elated at the return of Ethos, an artistic platform in which aspiring artistes express themselves and develop their talent for the next stage of their careers.
The event, held at the Barn at the University of the Technology, Jamaica, returned on April 26, 2022 under the theme High Time and featured headline act Leno Banton. Other performers included Shanice Sewell, Marcilli, Konchuz, King Calie, Ahbikufa and Irkah Wilson. Alexander said the core purpose of Ethos is to be a platform for up-and-coming performers.
“These performers not only get to show off their acts but they also get valuable experience performing before a live audience and we intend to stay true to that as the brand grows,” he said.
“It felt amazing, the support was great. It’s just a good feeling to be back in the space seeing all the talent passing through and providing that unique intimate experience our loyal patrons have grown to love. Over the moon working on this project again.” The second staging is scheduled for tonight with another set for May 31.
“We intend to curate two very different types of shows. The first aims to be more soulful and intimate, while the second will be a bit more upbeat. We will employ this model over the rest of the year as we push this project closer to a true cultural showcase, a destination where you can always expect a unique experience of our island’s multifaceted entertainment scene,” Alexander shared. He stressed that the highlight of the show for him has always been artiste development.
“We are able to consistently find the best of what’s next. The artistes we continue to have grace our stage never disappoint especially ones we’ve had on the show in the past. How far they’ve reached in their craft is amazing and we look forward to more greatness from them,” he said.
