Tivoli’s Brown yearns to return to scoring

Tivoli Gardens (TG) striker Warner Brown says that a metatarsal injury has affected him this season. However, the 19-year-old footballer said he is close to full fitness and still has his sights set on helping TG make the Jamaica Premier League playoffs.

He is also hoping to reaching double figures for goals despite only five games remaining in the regular season.

Brown netted his four goals this season from his team’s first four games but said that after scoring in a 1-1 draw with Montego Bay United, he had to travel to the United States for personal reasons and did not go straight back into the starting team after returning.

He believes that impacted his form, and it was made worse when he picked up the injury soon after.

“The start of the season was difficult because we hadn’t gelled, and it took more of an individual effort to help the team get points,” Brown said.

“But my form was great because I was getting a goal a game. “Goalscoring form follows you with matches and after I missed a couple games, I knew it was going to take something special to get back to the type of goalscoring form I was in.

“Soon after I got a metatarsal injury, so that made it even more difficult. But now I am back in the squad and within the next week or two I am looking to get back to full fitness and full flight to help my team go forward.”

His aim is still to get at least 10 goals for the season and he believes he has an opportunity to close in on the target in the next match against Molynes United.

Tivoli are on 22 points, just one place and one point off a play-off spot in seventh.

“If we make the playoffs, I expect us to at least make the semi-finals,” he said. “And I believe we can make the final and bring the title home to Tivoli Gardens.”
