Ximines: I had to make the change

- DANIEL WHEELER Staff Reporter

With an appreciation of what Harbour View has done for him, Tarick Ximines says that his move to Mount Pleasant was necessary to continue his evolution at the fullback position.

Ximines scored his first goal for his new club on Monday during their

3- 2 win over Molynes United at Stadium East.

Ximines was playing his third game for the St Ann outfit after his transfer from Harbour View, a decision that he said was made to continue his development at

right- back.

“It was for my development playing at right- back. I wasn’t playing my position at Harbour View. So I had to make the change. It is nothing personal with the club. I still love the club. It’s just that I had to make the move for myself to develop,” Ximines said.

The move was a bittersweet feeling, he admitted, as he has been a part of the Harbour View set- up since he was 11 years old. However, he says that he is getting acclimatised to life in St Ann and was pleased to be able to contribute to a crucial win.

“It was a good feeling for me to help my team get the three points along with my first goal for the club. It’s a little bit of history. So what I have to do now is build on this and move forward,” Ximines said. I’m getting settled, I’m getting used to the players and the players are getting used to me.”

With eyes towards his dream of playing overseas, Ximines says that he is looking forward to stepping out of his comfort zone at Mount Pleasant and is ready to embrace the demands that will be placed on him for the long term and the short term as the club looks towards a deep play- off run this season.

“I’m really excited because the challenges that are coming are to prepare me as a player who wants to go overseas and play professionally,” Ximines said
