Women choosing a more natural look over the ‘vixen’ body shape

As social media users speculate that the ‘vixen’ body era is coming to an end, CEO of Designer Bodys, Michelle Dior, believes that it will always have a place among plastic surgery enthusiasts and the wider society.

“I think it has dwindled a little and it could dwindle a lot more but it’s hard for me to say because we do still get contacted for that look,” Dior said. The ‘vixen’ body refers to women who have an extra large bottom and breasts with small waists. While some women are naturally curvaceous, this look is specifically descriptive of the version of these curves exaggerated through plastic surgery. Dior told THE STAR that there has been a recent incline in the amount of women seeking their services for more natural looking bodies.

“I think a lot of people are going for the natural look. You still have girls that wanna look like the super dolls with the vixen look and stuff but I think the majority of our clients are going for a more simpler look with like a small butt, small hips and a small waist,” she said. “I think that it goes both ways actually because we have girls that come back and wanna look more natural. But we do have girls that have had the natural look and they wanna come back and look more vixen, so it goes both ways.”

In the last year, international celebrity Kim Kardashian is one of the many celebrities who has been rumoured to have toned down her look by removing her butt implants. Since the start of ‘ awards season’ in the US, many fans have compared photos of the reality TV star’s previous skintight look and more recent ones. She does seem to have a noticeably smaller derrière. Dior says, however, that she is unsure whether or not this has any impact on the local market as her clients are more influenced by locals.

“Me personally, I don’t think the Kardashians are the impact for our clients to be fair. I feel like the people that our clients look up to are more people who are in the limelight in Jamaica as well as some in other countries as well. But I think they are more or less following the trends among the black scene. I don’t feel like Kardashians were the ones that people looked up to for their surgery bodies. Yes I would say they do probably other races and stuff but honestly I’ve never heard of anyone coming to me and say oh my God, I wanna look like Kim Kardashian,” she said.

The Dominican Republic-based Designer Bodys is even offering discounts for customers who have done surgeries with the brand before and want to come back to get more procedures.

“A ‘round two’ discount is for girls who come the second time. So we give them US$500 off the procedure,” Dior said.
