Man accused of bank card fraud
ACorporate Area man who was allegedly found in possession of 29 debit and credit cards, as well as other banking paraphernalia, was remanded in custody following his appearance in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Phillip Lindsay is charged with 17 counts of being in possession of access devices. He has not yet entered a plea. The court heard that on March 22, police investigators and personnel from the National Commercial Bank, acting on information, went to Lindsay’s home where the cards, two point-of-sale machines, and two card readers were found. It was alleged that the cards had names of individuals other than Lindsay’s. The prosecution opposed bail, based on the seriousness of the allegations and charges. It was also shared that the case file is incomplete as a report from the Communication Forensics and Cybercrime Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the corroborating officer’s statement, and a statement from the bank are outstanding.
Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque requested that Lindsay’s police record be made available by the next court date, when a bail application will be heard.
He was remanded in custody until June 2.
