LA rapper collaborates with Beenie Man
Los Angeles-based rapper Big TyStick recently teamed up with dancehall superstar Beenie Man and veteran reggae artiste Michael Black for the single Reggae Music Remix, which is now playing in heavy radio rotation in Jamaica.
“I love the music, the culture and the marijuana lifestyle in Jamaica,” Big Ty-stick said. The single, produced on the Country California imprint, is a track from new reggae album Roots Reggae Wine featuring Black. Recently, Big Ty-Stick did a west coast reggae mixtape which was recorded in Hawaii. He said that it was inspired by the positivity and good marijuana.
“I am a big weed advocate. I have performed in many medical marijuana communities performing at all cannabis venues like the Los Angeles area Doesha Cup and Northern California’s Hightimes Cannibis Cup,” he said. Big Ty-Stick has collaborations with multi-platinum, Grammy-award winning producer Jazzy Pha and Ensayne Wayne from the Drum Squad. He has also collaborated with rap legends like ScarFace and with Bay area legends like DJ Fresh.
Born on an air force base in California, Big Ty-Stick graduated from Menlo College with a bachelor’s degree in humanities and a minor in business. He also graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master’s in business administration. His mother was also a college graduate while his grandmother was a businesswoman and former member of the Black Panthers.
“I understand street economics, corporate economics, American economics, Californian economics and racial economics first-hand,” he said.
