-

Retiree Monica Jackson grinned from ear to ear after she was presented with the keys to a brand new two-bedroom house, which was constructed through a partnership between Boom Energy Drink and Food For The Poor Jamaica.

The house, built in Treadways, St Catherine, has modern bathroom facilities, a kitchen and a veranda. It is the final of 10 new house under ‘Boom with Love’ initiative, which aims to provide homes for needy Jamaicans.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for this new home. I needed one for a very long time, and even gave up hope that I would have my own,” said the 86-year-old.

Jackson supports her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, has been struggling to make ends meet, and faced the burden of rent arrears for many months.

“The house I was in before was in a very bad condition, so

I was very excited when I got the call from Food For The Poor that I would be getting a house,” said Jackson, who received her house in March.

Since 2020, Boom has sponsored a total of 30 houses through Food For The Poor, making a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families across the country. Karen Rosen, group marketing manager at Wisynco, the company that distributes Boom, said, “Giving back is an integral part of our brand’s purpose.”

“The Boom with Love initiative aligns perfectly with our values, as it empowers individuals and families to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a better future,” Rosen said.

Marsha Burrell Rose, marketing and development manager at Food For The Poor Jamaica, expressed her gratitude for the partnership with Boom Energy Drink.

“Through their support, we have been able to provide shelter to those who require it the most. This final handing over marks a milestone in our joint efforts to ‘Build Back the Love for Jamaica’, and we are honoured to witness the positive impact it has on Monica Jackson’s life and her family,” Burrell Rose said.
