...Ming ready for the threat

Cavalier’s captain and ace defender Kyle Ming is fully aware of the threat Mount Pleasant’s striker Trivante Stewart will pose over the 90 minutes and possibly extra-time of Sunday’s Jamaica Premier League (JPL) final set for Sabina Park.

Stewart was more than a handful for the Arnett Gardens’ defence over the two legs of their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) semi-finals. Ming, the Cavalier defensive backbone, is confident of dealing with the menacing big striker and leading them to victory.

“The final will speak for itself,” he stated. “I won’t say much on that (matchup with Stewart), but I see nothing but a victory in the final,” he declared.

The defender has been getting a lot of plaudits because of his consistently high level of performance over this season, especially after the departure of Richard King to Iceland in April.

For Sunday’s final, he wants to lead from the back and drive Cavalier to victory.

“It’s a really good feeling reaching the final. We have to give thanks. I want to play a really good game, and help my team to the win,” he continued.

Although Cavalier’s defence will have their hands full trying to contain Stewart and company, Ming said Mount Pleasant’s defence should also be wary of their marksman, Colin Anderson, who leads the Golden Boot race with 19 goals.

“They played well, but we have Colin Anderson, and we believe in him. I will try to lead my team well and come out and help them to be victorious in the end. So we are looking for a great performance,” he stated.
