13-y-o missing since Monday

Thirteen-year-old Tenley Whittaker, a second-form student of St Hugh’s High School has been missing since Monday and her family is worried sick.

“Mi want to ask her why she do this because she is not a child that is in need. I want her to come home. Not even mi mother call she a take, and she and her grandmothe­r close,” said Ifyelia Matthews, the teen’s mother.

Tenley is of dark complexion and wears natural hair. Her mother said that the last time she saw her was on Monday morning when she left home in Seaview Gardens for school.

“Mi normally take her to the bus stop but on Monday, it was her big sister who follow her to bus stop. I sell downtown, so normally she would meet me at town by 3 p.m. and mi carry her back go put her on bus to go back a Seaview,” explained Matthews. “When mi see di time pass, mi start wonder how she nuh come from school yet. Last week she stay back at school and comb a friend hair and mi start say a hope a no that she gone do again and don’t inform mi.” Matthew said she reported her daughter missing at the Seaview Gardens Police Station.

“Her cell phone on and off and when I call the school, she was marked absent for Monday, and she did not turn up yesterday (Tuesday). As a mother, mi head a hurt mi and mi chest all a tighten up. My mother a take it very hard, too, and everyone just

worried,” said Matthews. “Tenley normally quiet and well behave and her grades dem good.”
