Search on for relatives of Jamaican who died in Trinidad

- TIFFANY PRYCE STAR Writer

The lifeless body of a Jamaican expatriate, Michael Lewis, was found in his apartment last Saturday in Trinidad and Tobago.

Lewis, a security guard at a Massy store in Curepe, was reported missing by a concerned countryman after failing to show up for work. The grim revelation was made by a fellow Jamaican, after visiting Lewis’ residence. According to sources close to the investigation, Lewis was last seen online via WhatsApp on Wednesday evening, but subsequent attempts to contact him proved futile. Earlier that day while he was at work, he complained about feeling pains in his knee. Concerns mounted as the visit to Lewis’ home showed signs of the air conditioner being on.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police

Service was alerted, leading to the discovery of Lewis’ remains. Initial observations noted the body’s swollen appearance, and Lewis was found naked in bed. Despite the alarming circumstances, no official determination regarding the cause of death has been acquired by THE WEEKEND

STAR.

A trusted source told the news team shed some light on Lewis’ personal background. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Lewis had no immediate family in the twin island republic, with his only known relatives being a daughter and an elderly mother residing in Portmore. Lewis, who is believed to be approximately 46 years old, had previously suffered the loss of an arm in a car accident back in Jamaica.

Rachael Crichlow, a representative from Armor Tec Security Services Limited, where

Lewis was employed, said the company tried to contact Lewis’ family without success. She urged anyone with information regarding Lewis’ next of kin to contact them.

Described as a dedicated and respected employee by colleagues, Lewis maintained a discreet personal life, keeping details of himself largely private. However, his sudden demise has shocked and saddened those who knew him.

The tragic circumstances surrounding Lewis’ death have sparked a call from the Jamaican community in Trinidad and Tobago for his body to be brought home for burial.

Anyone with information regarding Lewis’ family or wishes to assist in the repatriation process is urged to contact Armor Tec Security Services Limited at 1 (868) 308-2012.
