Dancehall artiste Nhance is excited about the buzz around his latest hit single, ‘Nuh Frighten’.

“The song is becoming a street anthem because it is relatable. It’s almost natural to tell somebody that if you nah like mi, mi nah like you either; if you nah want to deal with me, mi nah have to deal with you either, being the proud persons we Jamaicans are,” Nhance said. Visuals for the project have racked up more than 1.6 million views in only four weeks since its release. Many influential street selectors have endorsed the song, while mixtape maestros have rubber-stamped the song’s rise on their weekly mixes.

Over the past year, Nhance has become a reliable hitmaker, cranking out hits such as Life, featuring Chronic Law (2.9 million views), Monster (3.1 million views) and Mind Set (4.5 million). Nuh Frighten went viral on TikTok not long after its initial release.

“I wasn’t surprised, to be honest, because the song is provocative and it’s relatable,” he said. “I felt the vibes from the studio as well, based on the reactions of German, the engineer and others. In fact, the video clipping of the song being played in the studio, during voicing, went viral on TikTok and that was further proof that the song would do well.”

He has been promoting the song, performing it at several live events.

“I had a good sense that people would love it. I performed it at Club Mecca, Boasy Tuesday, and many other occasions and the reception is overwhelming. In fact, this is my first song that has matured so quickly with the people dem,” Nhance said.

Nhance is a second-generation star, the son of former Portmore Empire standout Gaza Sheba. He idolised artistes such as Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man, Bob Marley and Chris Brown. He decided he wanted to be a deejay and began writing his own lyrics when he was 16, adopting the name Nhance.

He has become a steady hitmaker like his mother. She is best known for her collaborations with Vybz Kartel, including and
