Women in Aviation

To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March, Air Astana shot a documentary film called On the Wings of a Dream. It is about Kazakhstani women in aviation and was aired on national television. The stars of the film were female pilots: a captain on the IL-18, Tamara Pavlenko; an instructor for light sport aircraft, Gulzhamal Yeltsova; and two graduates of Air Astana’s Аb-initio programme, Elvira Nurmukhambetova, now first officer on the Embraer 190 and Natalya Linchenko, first officer on the Airbus А320. They all shared their memories of their first flights and discussed how aviation has changed since Soviet times.
