What is ‘chè’?
Chè is the Vietnamese word for their a traditional sweet beverage or dessert. It’s produced differently in every city and province, but the basic ingredients remain the same and chè can be made of golden haricot beans, peas, homemade jelly and fruit such as longan, mango, durian, lychee or jackfruit. Most versions include plenty of rich, sweet and creamy coconut. Almost every café in the country offers this delicacy and there are shops that specialise exclusively in this special dessert.
