Dixieland Festival

The International Dixieland Festival in Dresden is the oldest jazz festival in Europe, an international celebration of jazz and blues music and the second-largest Dixieland festival in the world. It has taken place every year since 1971 and lasts for a week. Dresden has earned the reputation of being the capital of old time jazz and every year this event draws over 500,000 jazz-lovers and 350 musicians from around the world. During the festival over 60 concerts take place in concert halls and in the street, in cafés, bars, parks and squares, on paddle-steamers and even in the zoo.
