Premiere of

This opera is the most keenly awaited premiere by the Astana Opera this season. Gioachino Rossini’s opera is distinguished by its lively humour and is reputed to be the opera that performers around the world enjoy the most. It is being staged by the scenographer Ezio Frigerio in tandem with the costume designer Franca Squarciapino, who won an Oscar for Cyrano de Bergerac in 1990 starring Gerard Depardieu. It is a great honour for the young theatre to work with people of this stature.
